Tom Cat and Zak

Hello!! My name is Zak, but some people call me Zakman (like Batman). I’ve been working in Mom & Dad’s shop full-time since the spring of 2001, but I did my first tattoo when I was 12 years old. I worked in the shop off and on over the years since then, but I did not take is seriously then, I was just the kid talking to customers; making stencils, sterilizing, answering the phone, setting up appointments, etc. I had a few different crappy jobs in High school and then after I graduated, I had to live and work in the Real World. That’s when I decided to open up my eyes and actually see this great opportunity that had been there all along. I like to tell people that I am a born and raised tattoo artist, but like anyone else who learns to tattoo, I did have to struggle in the beginning I like to do custom pieces; lots of color, black and gray is fun. I hope to do portraits in the future. I like to do gruesome, bloody tattoos, but no many people ask for that kind of art. Besides tattoos I also do sculpting, pastels, a little painting and I also customize G.I. Joes’s but that’s another story. Recently I have been a guest artist a few times at my friend Tom Cat’s shop in Estherville, IA called Impressions Tattoo. I hope to do more guest spots in the future, here, there and everywhere. My training will never end and I will continue to learn as much as I can. So, stop in and see me sometime, don’t be surprised if my hair is a different color (it varies).
