“Hau Kola”
Hello Friends,
I am called Skin. My name is Audrey. I am the first
female tattooist in our state.
I worked with traditional “picture tattooing” in
the late 1970’s. I hooked up with Bones and together we got
serious about our art. We started Skin & Bones Tattoo shortly
after. We made friends with Roberta Rieley from Kansas City, one
of the top cosmetic tattooists. She needed her eyeliner touched
up. She taught Bones her cosmetic technique and he taught it to
me. My big biker buddy, Magoo, taught me a few cosmetic tricks
too. I started to offer these services in the shop.
My girlfriend asked me, “If you can do all that, can
you make a nipple for me?”
I thought about my Grand Mother who died from breast
cancer. I know it runs in my family.
My answer was, yes I can. That led to establishing
Permanent Beauty, Surgical and Cosmetic Tattooing. I now take
referrals from a number of different surgeons for surgical
tattooing, nipple replacement, scar tissue and other tings. If I
can help others who have survived, maybe the future can be
brighter for all of us.
Can’t forget about the body piercing. I am the first
body piercer in our state, male or female. It used to be a real
big secret. Most people thought we were really weird for the first
few years until piercing became more mainstream and accepted.
Bones and I have paved the way for the artists and pierces in
our state. At various times we have worked with both State and
Local Health Departments to establish good regulations for our
business. We are currently involved with the APT in an effort to
continue moving forward.
I could go on about the famous and infamous people (you
know who you are) we have met and the many adventures we’ve
survived. You’ll just have to come by the shop and swap stories,
maybe get tattooed.
We are honored and proud to have been of service to all
of you for so many years and we look forward to many more.
“Pilamiya” Thank you
